Context

In 1971 the game Pong was released as the age of computers began to rise. According to Henry Lowood, its success was attributed to its simplicity and fun yet competitive replayability. The game required players to only use one hand to move a white bar up and down in a game of virtual ping pong against a computer. The game was placed in many bars and restaurants where players could hold a drink and play at the same time. Then in 1978, the same year Frogs was released, Space Invaders, made by the Taito Corporation. Taito had a difficult time keeping up with demand and Midway Games company saw a chance to launch the game which was originally limited to Japan until 1979 when it came to the United States (BBC). Frogs was released in 1978 by Gremlin Industries which was based in San Diego, California. From the limited internet presence of Frogs compared to its counterparts such as Pong, Space Invaders, and Frogger which was released in 1981 under the same company as Frogs it is evident that the game is not common and in danger of being forgotten.
