Slow looking Analysis (Object 4 )

Describe what you see:  what it is; what its shape is; how and from what it was made; what decoration, damage, or other striking details it possesses.  

Then describe the social and historical context of your object (the object’s time, place, and purpose).  In this section, you may include:  what the object is for; when and where it was made; when and where was it used, and by whom.  Discuss its purpose, its place and historical period, and its cultural significance.  Explain how it contributes to your understanding of the monster.  (Not all of these questions will apply to all objects! Focus on areas that help shed light on your monster.)

 In this section, you must also illustrate your primary artifact with at least two other objects of interest.

Artifact 4 – the Sutton-Hoo Helmet from the Anglo-Saxon Period made of bronze and gold decorations of serpent like dragons in the centre of the helmet. Since the helmet is embroidered with gold, it probably belongs to some high-ranking official of the kingdom. I personally like to believe this helmet was on Beowulf’s head when he went to fight the dragon because when he went to fight the dragon, he had already been crowned as the king and since this helmet has gold on it, it is befitting for a king to wear to battle
