Conclusion
There is a lifespan for everything, from people, animals to objects. Eventually, everything will die or be forgotten. Especially a video game, there is only so much time that a video game will be remembered since there are so many different kinds of video games and so many restrictions. The video game Bionic Commando is a great example of it.
Technology is one of the factors that affect how long a game will be remembered. Bionic commando is a game that shows a good example of how technology plays a big factor in a game's lifespan. The transition from arcade machines to consoles, finally to modern computers, shows how technologies have developed over the years. This also shows the transition of the game Bionic Commando, where originally it was an arcade game, then developed to a game that uses NES console. Now it is a game that can be played on the computer with an emulator. Although the game has lived on, however, I believe that this game is actually endangered. This is because the gaming experience is no longer the same.
Another factor that will affect the game bionic commando's lifespan is the censorship or restrictions presented in the Nintendo era of censorship. In the mid-1980s, Nintendo's objective was to present family-friendly content games causing many games like Bionic Commando that originated from japan to be censored and many parts of the game to be remade. These remade/censored parts of the game will significantly change the game, making it a completely different game. Therefore, the censorship causing Bionic Commando to have two different versions will completely change the experience of this game. Therefore, to fully experience the game, you would also need to understand the context of the game so that we can understand how a game from a foreign country can affect and impact another country and how different cultures have different levels of censorship.
