Introduction
This exhibit focuses on the creation and subsequent liquidation of the E.T. the Extraterrestrial videogame developed by Atari for the Atari 2600 home console. The exhibit will explore the rushed development of the game, the lackluster release, and the unprecedented steps Atari took to destroy unsold copies of the game. I will discuss the importance of the preservation of this game both in a physical and digital form and explain why E.T. the Extraterrestrial is a perfect example of the dangers of corporate coverup.
