However, some of the oldest accounts of the werewolf present the creature less as a monstrous amalgamations of lupine and humanoid with a tendency of bloodshed, and more of a human who simply happens to transform into a wolf and is rarely governed by the lunar cycle. Which may be very confusing to some, as naturally one might assume that the modern interpretation would be far more humane than the older interpretation based off of the other types of monsters that existed in folkloric sources. 

However, by exploring the literary and archaeological evidence of the early interpretation of the werewolf, a sound argument can be presented that the origins of the werewolf were indeed not as savage as the current interpretation.
