What is your “book”?

The book I chose for the project is The Exeter Book, which is a 10th-century anthology of Old English poetry that is extremely valuable to Exeter Cathedral, the Cathedral Library, and English literature in general.

How is it endangered?

As Old English was the first form of English, which began to disappear in the 11th century, its significance comes from its contents and the language in which it was written. As the majority of medieval manuscripts from western Europe were written in Latin, the fact that this manuscript was written in English is also remarkable. The cathedral has always had the challenge of keeping it secure while at the same time finding ways to share it with the world (2021).

What is the exhibit going to teach us?

This exhibit is going to discuss the reasons influencing the preservation of The Exeter Book. And I hope that after going through the exhibit, people can get to know this amazing and valuable treasure.
