Not all the old arcade games can evolve like Q*bert. Most of them are endangered or even disappeared over time. With the tendency of nostalgia, people's rising interest in "childhood games" or past game culture retrieve attention on the old arcade games. More and more people are aware of conserving old video games. (Guttenbrunner, et al., 2010)
This exhibit shows the evolution of Q*bert and analyzes the challenges it overcame and the strategies it took. Q*bert's success is based on a near-perfect condition. In contemporary times, all game developers will consider the user experience. The hardest problem can be solved by manufacturer and producers' support. Therefore, dealing with legal issues is most significant. To reduce the conserver's concern of legal situation, extending legal deposit law to digital preservation is necessary. (Newman, 2012)
