Conclusion
The Prince is currently prevalent in academia, politics, and popular culture. There are no systematic attempts to destroy this book and it is available everywhere; libraries, stores, and even websites where the content is free to access. Despite this, it is continued to be challenged and surrounded by popular misconceptions and quotes taken out of context. Many people know of The Prince but to truly understand it, the context of the time should also be noted. Machiavelli lived through a turbulent time in Italian history in which foreigners intervened heavily and regime changes happened frequently. As a result, The Prince was written. Hopefully this exhibit was able to shed some light into the history of The Prince’s vilification.
