Introduction

The book that this exhibit will explore is a children's picture book called, The Story of Ferdinand, written by Munro Leaf. Ferdinand was a really famous children’s book published in 1936, but was banned by Spain and Germany for it’s Western ‘feminan’ ideologies. This exhibit is going to explore the historical context of this book, during WW2, and its impacts on the book. More specifically, the similarities and differences between the ideologies between dominant Western America, and facist Nazi Germany along with Spain. These comparisons will lead to the understanding on the war of democracy. Ultimetly, how Ferdinand simbolized a free minded thinker, which was apposed as a threat by the facist goverments.
