Context
Camus began to write this novel in France in 1941. At that time, Nazi-occupied (German-occupied) France; the fear of war, fascist massacre, separation family, and other complex and terrible factors contributed to Camus's creation of this novel.
This work is based on the plague that took place in earlier historical periods, depicting a plague in the city of Oran. Combine the reality with history, allusion to the fact that people were experiencing this catastrophe - the Second World War.
The author's intentionality is more metaphorical. Using metaphor and symbolism techniques alludes to the cruel social conditions and aims to trigger the reader to think about fascists consuming millions of lives like the Plague pathoge.
