This exhibit will showcase the reliquary from the Malcove Collection, and shed light on the purpose and importance of such objects in society, during the 13th – 17th century in Europe. It will also compare the Malcove reliquary to two other reliquaries from Europe and one from Thailand, and shed light on the differences between them – regarding their medium and decorations. This exhibit will also discuss that what makes up a reliquary in part, is decided by the access of goods each country the reliquaries are from had access to, and wealth.
