Book
This pamphlet is an excellent example of the use of a ‘hybrid’ mix of illustrations and quotes.
The pamphlet consists of 28 yellowing pages of the manuscript and woodcut illustrations and Gothic print type in black ink. There are scenes depicted in 26 woodcut illustrations which parody the life of Christ in contrast to Pope’s life and authority on the opposite page and below each are quotations in German language.
Bagchi describes the dimensions of a typical Reformation pamphlet as follows, “In physical terms, typical pamphlet was of a handy, quarto, size (usually about 8 inches by 6 inches).."
