Introduction

Video games are a form of digital technology that brings together the consumer and an electrical gaming device. Since their creation, video games have acquired a significant role in our cultures and lifestyles.

In this exhibit, I am to focus on one of the first successful video games to emerge, Pong- an Atari arcade game from 1972. More specifically I will focus on the physical death of Pong through the death of its hardware however its survival through its influence on the following games.

Even with the death of their consoles, games live on in the internet archive, in newer remakes, in the influence on other games, and in people’s memories. Just because the physical hardware of Pong has become obsolete, it does not mean that the concept of the game has died.

To keep up with the fast-paced world, one must evolve with and adapt to it. And that is what Pong did.
