Alexandreis
This manuscript illumination is of a dragon, who appears to be breathing fire towards the text. The illumination is found on a manuscript of Walter of Chatillon’s “Alexandreis”. It dates to the second half of the 14th century. The manuscript itself is in the gothic style, and was created in either East Anglia or Lincolnshire. The illumination of the dragon is located on the 30th folio, in the lower margin, on the verso. While the dragon is not explicitly labeled as being Leviathan, it is similar to other draconic depictions of the beast.
