Introduction

Martin Luthers ‘Passional Christi und Antichristi’ is a pamphlet created in 1521 on parchment and spread through the relatively new printing press technology throughout the entire Holy Roman Empire. It was endangered by censorship through both the Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Roman Emperor. In the pamphlet, Luther presents the teachings of the Bible, and presents the Pope as the Antichrist.  It was an endangered piece of literature in the early 15th century, as the Church saw Luther as a dissident, who was threatening the power of the Church in the state, a view shared by the Catholic emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, who tried to prevent any of Luthers work including this Pamphlet from spreading amongst the Population.
