Context

The Classic of Poetry was banned by Qin Shihuang. After Qin Shihuang unified the six countries, he did not stop oppressing people, and he still forced conscription even though there was no need to fight. Qin Shihuang asked those "soldiers" to repair the Great Wall for him, and the soldiers did not have enough rest time during the work.

Meng Jiangnv's crying on the Great Wall tells the story of Meng Jiangnv's husband who died of exhaustion while repairing the Great Wall. Meng Jiangnv knew the story of crying on the Great Wall.

The poems in the Classic of Poetry not only euphemistically indicted dissatisfaction with Qin Shihuang's behavior and society at that time, but also had many eulogy chapters to other emperors. This made Qin Shihuang worry that after more and more people read this book, someone might threaten his power and status, such as overthrow him. Therefore, Qin Shihuang did not allow people to read and study the Classic of Poetry.

In fact, the Classic of Poetry also has some poems describing landscapes.

This painting is included in the National Palace Museum by Ma Hezhi's imaginary landscape through the Classic of Poetry s. He embodies abstract poems through painting, and the left and right sides are the original texts of the Classic of Poetry.

There are many contents in the Classic of Poetry, and not every poem is complaining of dissatisfaction.

However, Qin Shihuang ordered that people be resolutely not allowed to read it. Perhaps it is a manifestation of a guilty conscience. He may also realize that his behavior is inappropriate, or he may just be born with the control of power and his own sensitivity.
