Didst perceive?: Set Design and Costume Design in Hamlet Adaptations
Though theatrical and cinematic adaptations of Shakespeare’s popular tragedy Hamlet often retain the original text, other elements of production are up for the producer to decide. Henceforth, this exhibition will look at five adaptations of Hamlet, and attempt to answer the question: How does set design and costume design influence an adaptation of Hamlet? The adaptations examined include three movie adaptations directed by Franco Zeffirelli, Tom Stoppard, and Kenenth Branagh respectively, one stage adaptation directed by Simon Godwin, and a filmed version of a stage adaptation directed by Gregory Doran.
