In this Digital Exhibit, I will be investigating the Canadian Government's response to the 2020 COVID-19 Global Pandemic. There will be a focus on Canadian Public Health Officials' response in relation to travel and border control.
This will begin with an introduction to the issues raised from the 2003 Federal commissioned report, Learning from SARS.
Shifting to a month-by-month timeline breaking down communications with Public Health Officials (predominately Health Minister Patty Hadju and Dr. Thesera Tam) elaborating on the rate of information the Canadian Government experienced.
Stricter screening policies and communication to the public on the rising intensity of the situation all were misappropriated in lieu of a campaign of 'low-risk' to Canadians. While attempting to avoid an 'epidemic of fear', Canadian Public Health Officials created their own variety of hysteria.
