The Film

FILM SUMMARY

The film starring Gong Yoo, Kim Su-an, Ma Dong-Seok, Jung-Yu-mi, Choi Woo-Shik, and Kim Eui-Sung, takes place in South Korea where a chemical leak at a biotech plant suddenly causes a mysterious viral outbreak that turns human into zombies. As the zombie apocalypse rapidly spreads across the country, this outbreak pushes South Korea into a state of emergency and the Korean government declares martial law. Fund manager Seok-woo (Gong Yoo), a divorced man that neglects his young daughter, Soo-an (Kim Soo-an), agrees to take her on the high-speed KTX train from Seoul to Busan so she could spend her birthday with her mother. As the train departs, a woman that was infected by the virus boards the train unnoticed by anyone else, thus begins infecting other passengers on the KTX. The film shows the journey of a diverse group of passengers with very different social statuses on the express train in a frenzied battle for survival against each other while being trapped in a bullet train filled with flesh craving, and blood-drenched zombies. Amid this unrelenting crisis that was happening across the Country, the remaining survivors finds hope in the train’s destination – Busan.

CHARACTERS

  • Goon Yoo: Seok-woo, a fund manager whose wide left him due to his selfishness and he constantly neglects his young daughter
  • Kim Su-an: Su-an, daughter of Seok-woo, really wants to see her mom in Busan for her birthday
  • Ma Dong-seok: Yoon Sang-hwa, a compassionate and brave man, boards the train with his pregnant wife
  • Jung Yu-mi: Seong-kyeong, the pregnant wife
  • Choi Woo-Shik: Min Yong-guk, high school student that is a baseball player
  • Kim Eui-sung: Yon-suk, an arrogant business executive
  • Choi Gwi-hwa: unnamed, a homeless man that sacrifices his life for others on the train
